Pablo Mira arrives at the Phénix in Valenciennes on June 4, 2027 with his third solo show, its title still undecided but its theme firmly set: those people who are making the country unbearable. He gets things off his chest about the little everyday things that make him snap — to the point of consulting an outrageously expensive therapist — then broadens the scope to the major social trends he has trouble grasping — and that he, of course, enjoys mocking — as a way of testing his self-control a little more.

Between social observation and very personal confessions, he dissects even his own way of sabotaging his life, without skirting the chapter on neuroses. You’ll find his taste for subversion, a well-honed feigned gravity and a sense of timing that links irritations, paradoxes and small shared humiliations. Without adopting a preachy stance, he chronicles the times by putting himself squarely in the crosshairs, alternating sharp barbs and lucid confessions. A show made for those who like their humour to take on others’ foibles as readily as their own.
