Sacred Reich

On August 4, 2026 Sacred Reich will play at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht. The thrash metal band from Phoenix has belonged since the mid-1980s to the second wave of the American scene, centered around bassist/vocalist Phil Rind and guitarist Wiley Arnett. With the debut Ignorance (1987) and the EP Surf Nicaragua (1988) the band established a fast, sharp sound, driven by socially critical and political lyrics. The American Way (1990) added more groove and space to breathe without losing its urgency, a line that continued on Independent (1993) and Heal (1996).

After a hiatus in 2000 Sacred Reich resumed touring in 2006 and returned to recording in 2019 with Awakening. Live, the band draws on decades of material: up-tempo thrash with razor-sharp riffs alongside mid-tempo grooves, always carried by Rind’s distinctive voice and lyrics about politics, inequality and the environment. In Utrecht that mix of old classics and newer tracks comes together in a set that shows how Sacred Reich has preserved its foundations while continuing to grow.
