The Brooks

On October 13, 2026, at the Café de la Danse, The Brooks bring back their stage-honed groove. Born in the early 2010s around bassist and musical director Alexandre Lapointe, the collective is built around singer and trombonist Alan Prater, guitarist Philippe Look and percussionist Philippe Beaudin. On stage, their signature is clear: bouncy rhythms, a sharp brass section, supple keyboards and guitar lines that catch without straining. It all comes down to interaction, the pleasure of playing and a genuine sense of ensemble.

Between funk, soul, R&B, afrobeat and jazz, The Brooks deliver a dense yet airy sound, designed to let the grooves breathe and to push improvisation just enough. Five albums punctuate their path, including Soon As I Can (2024), which confirms precise songwriting and tight musicianship, without losing the energy of the live show. More than a collection of musicians, the band links— in its own way—over fifty years of African-American music, faithful to its roots and firmly grounded in the present. Paris will be treated to this collective machinery at the Café de la Danse, driven by a forward-moving rhythm and arrangements that hit the mark.
