Info
Kes brings the Roots, Rock, Soca Tour to Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver on May 31, 2026. Formed in Trinidad and Tobago around singer Kees Dieffenthaller with his brothers Hans and Jon and bassist Riad Boochoon, the band honed its identity on the carnival circuit before taking its sound abroad. Their music sits squarely in soca, fed by calypso, pop and reggae with a touch of R&B, and a live approach where guitars and percussion lock into a danceable pulse.
On stage, Kes moves from uptempo soca burners to more melodic mid-tempo cuts, threading in percussion breaks, brass lines and call-and-response hooks. The set draws from staples like Wotless and Savannah Grass, mixed with newer tracks and collaborations that map the range of contemporary soca. Arrangements keep the groove tight and the harmonies clear, giving space to Kees’ lead vocal and a rhythm section shaped for movement.
This tour stop leans into the band’s roots while opening to crossover shades, a snapshot of where Caribbean pop lives today. Expect a focused, high-energy live session built on melody, rhythm and that Port of Spain street-party feel.
