Info
Ibrahim Maalouf will perform on 7 April 2026 at the Royal Theatre Carré in Amsterdam. The Franco-Lebanese trumpeter has developed his own sonic language around his quarter‑tone valve trumpet: lyrical themes, Arabic maqams, jazz harmonies and a pop sensibility that are immediately palpable live. On stage he steers his band through open arrangements where improvisation and tight grooves alternate; melodies move between melancholy and exuberance in an approach he has further deepened since Diasporas, Illusions, Kalthoum and Red & Black Light.
Raised between family tradition and conservatories, shaped by his father Nassim Maalouf and in the lineage of Maurice André, Maalouf moves effortlessly between concert halls, film and theatre projects. You can hear that in the arc of tension in his live sets: themes build patiently, choirs and synths colour the space, and the trumpet probes the edges of intonation without abandoning the song. At Carré he will weave new material into pieces that have marked his trajectory, supported by a band that leaves room for contrast and dynamics. Music that breathes across borders, with the trumpet as its guide.
