Ligabue

On 11 May 2026 Ligabue will perform at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht. Luciano Ligabue, born in Correggio, broke into the Italian rock scene in the early 1990s through local bands and DJ work. With his 1990 debut he established a direct guitar-driven rock, fuelled by American-oriented songwriting and lyrics about life outside the big cities. In the years that followed he broadened his sound with melodic pop and ballads, faster tempos and a more narrative songwriting style. Albums such as Lambrusco coltelli rose & pop corn, Buon compleanno Elvis, Fuori come va?, Mondovisione, Made in Italy, Start and Dedicato a noi mark that trajectory.

On stage he blends stadium rock with moments that lean towards intimate storytelling. His songs address themes such as social tensions, relationships and contemporary disillusionment, always sung in Italian. In addition to his music, Ligabue also writes and directs; the soundtrack to his film Radiofreccia naturally connects with his musical universe. In Utrecht this comes together in a set where stories, guitars and choruses alternate.
