Pixies

On 18 July 2026 Pixies will perform at the Muziekcentrum in Enschede. The quartet formed in 1986 in Boston around Black Francis, Joey Santiago, Kim Deal and David Lovering, and early on established its own grammar: the quiet–loud tension, sharp guitar hooks, clashing collages and lyrics full of images that verge on the surreal. With Surfer Rosa and Doolittle that sound took its definitive form, carried by songs such as "Where Is My Mind?", "Debaser" and "Monkey Gone to Heaven." Their approach became a reference point for a whole generation and can be heard resonating in bands like Nirvana, Radiohead and Weezer.

After the split in 1993, Pixies reformed in 2004; since then the line-up has revolved around Black Francis, Santiago and Lovering, and new records have appeared alongside the enduring classics. Live, that friction between silence and storm remains the driving force: short bursts, melodies that linger, then an angular turn. In Enschede all of this comes together in a set that mirrors the early material against the later work — direct and compact, with no detours.
