On May 13, 2026, 16 Horsepower will be at SEW Morlaix in Morlaix. Formed in Denver around singer and multi-instrumentalist David Eugene Edwards, together with Pascal Humbert and Jean‑Yves Tola, the band shaped a dark American rock that blends rural folk, country and bluegrass influences with a post‑punk edge. On stage, this blend takes the form of spare, taut songs in which tight rhythms and guitars open up to acoustic arrangements, and lyrics laced with biblical imagery resonate like ballads from the Appalachians.
The repertoire draws on the records that defined their path, from Sackcloth ’n’ Ashes and Low Estate to Secret South, as well as reinterpretations of traditional material on Folklore. The live album Hoarse bears witness to this, capturing the band’s onstage momentum at the crossroads of roots music and indie rock.
