Info
Joyce Manor and Militarie Gun hit The Palace Theatre in Calgary on May 9, 2026, with Teen Mortgage and Combat rounding out a punk-leaning bill.
Formed in Torrance in 2008, Joyce Manor shaped a lean, melodic take on punk that folds in emo and indie rock. Short songs, plainspoken melodies and narrative lyrics have marked their path from the self-titled debut to Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired, then the Epitaph years with Never Hungover Again and Cody. Million Dollars to Kill Me and 40 oz. to Fresno kept the focus tight: compact tracks about relationships, drifting days and the pull of hometown streets.
Militarie Gun started in Los Angeles in 2020 around Ian Shelton, branching from hardcore toward a sharper, tuneful noise. The early EPs My Life Is Over and the two-part All Roads Lead to the Gun set the template: rigid rhythm, rough-edged guitars, clear vocal lines. A team-up with Dazy pushed the hooks further before Life Under the Gun (2023, Loma Vista) framed the band’s balance between tension and melody.
Teen Mortgage and Combat open the night, setting the pace for a set driven by economy, grit and sharp choruses.
