Megadeth and Anthrax share the stage at Prospera Place in Kelowna on February 19, 2026, for a bill rooted in the first wave of American thrash. Two bands with distinct approaches, one night tracing the genre from its early blueprints to recent releases.
Formed in Los Angeles in 1983 by Dave Mustaine and David Ellefson, Megadeth set a style built on rapid, precise riffs, complex song structures and lyrics that probe politics, war, religion and social alienation. From the early pace of Killing Is My Business and Peace Sells to the technical punch of Rust in Peace and the streamlined edge of Countdown to Extinction, the band has kept writing and touring through shifting line-ups. More recent chapters like Dystopia and The Sick, the Dying... and the Dead! confirm a catalogue that balances speed, groove and melody on stage.
Born in New York in 1981 around guitarist Scott Ian, Anthrax blends sharp thrash mechanics with hardcore energy and classic metal hooks. Fistful of Metal, Spreading the Disease and Among the Living set their template, while the 1991 collaboration with Public Enemy on Bring the Noise opened a rap metal detour later followed by a return to straight thrash on Worship Music and For All Kings. Live, their mix of barked refrains, tight riffs and crowd-ready breaks keeps the focus on momentum and impact.
