Born in Philadelphia in 1972, McBride made his name in New York alongside figures like Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson and Joshua Redman before stepping out as a leader. From Gettin’ To It in 1994 to Sci‑Fi in 2000, his writing anchors melodic themes in grounded bass lines, drawing on hard bop, modern swing, funk and soul.
