The singer from Detroit, born in 1945 as William Sherille Levise Jr., has been blending rock ’n’ roll with soul inflections since the 1960s. With The Detroit Wheels he released singles such as “Jenny Take a Ride!” and “Devil with a Blue Dress On,” shaping a sound that sits between garage rock and blue‑eyed soul. Later projects appeared under his own name — from the album Detroit (1971) and How I Spent My Vacation (1978) to the collaboration with John Mellencamp on Never Kick a Sleeping Dog (1983).
In concert, Ryder focuses on a direct set that moves between rock, soul and rhythm and blues, with his voice at the center. In Bremen he will present classics from his early years alongside material from later phases.
