Hattler

On October 10, 2026, Hattler will be appearing at the Kulturbahnhof Cloppenburg. Behind the name is the German bassist Hellmut Hattler, known from Kraan and Tab Two. With this project he has been shifting his playing since the 2000s into an electronically shaped, groove-oriented environment. The sound moves between nu-jazz, funk, pop and downtempo; melodic bass lines are at the center, carrying flexible rhythms and opening up space for atmospheric, at times cinematic, soundscapes.

Hattler performs with a variable lineup around the bandleader. Depending on the setup, soulful voices meet fusion guitars and electronics, so that songs, extended instrumentals and passages with an ambient tint flow seamlessly into one another. Live, the focus is on the immediate sound and the interplay of improvisation and arrangement. In this way the band connects the German jazz-rock tradition from which Hattler originates with a contemporary club aesthetic. Expect dense grooves, clear motifs on the bass and an ensemble that demonstrates agility without losing its flow. An evening in Cloppenburg that transfers material from the studio and side projects to the stage and reimagines it in the moment.
