Ariel Posen, a guitarist and songwriter from Winnipeg, blends roots rock, blues, folk and soul into songs carried by his melodic slide playing. Initially known as the guitarist for The Bros. Landreth, he launched his solo career in the late 2010s to bring vocals and arrangements more to the fore. He followed with the albums How Long (2019), Headway (2021) and Reasons Why (2023), as well as the EP Mile End. In the studio as well as live, Posen favors a warm, detail-rich sound in which the guitar supports the melody rather than dominating it. Between tours in North America and Europe he collaborates with musicians from the roots scene and passes on his know-how as a guitar teacher.
On 15 February 2026 Ariel Posen brings his Future Present Tense Tour to the Nochtspeicher in Hamburg. The program features slow ballads, atmospheric tension builds and grooving pieces – the song remains at the center.
