Patrick Watson

Patrick Watson brings his world to the MeM in Rennes on June 2, 2026. A pianist and singer born near Montreal, he has led a project under his own name since the early 2000s, accompanied by Mishka Stein, Robbie Kuster and Simon Angell. On stage, his songs are built around the piano, subtle arrangements and a voice that conveys intimacy. Between dreamy folk, chamber pop and cinematic overtones, the concert moves from whispers to sweeping surges, allowing each piece to breathe.

Discovered with Just Another Ordinary Day (2003), brought to wider attention by Close to Paradise and honored with the Polaris Prize in 2007, Patrick Watson followed with Wooden Arms (2009) and Adventures In Your Own Backyard (2012) before extensively touring Europe and the United States, from clubs to festivals like Garorock and Days Off, and even sharing a bill with James Brown. In Rennes he revisits these albums, reworks the songs and slips in more recent compositions, supported by a band seasoned in live performance. The set is designed for attentive listening, balancing gentle tension and delicate orchestrations, placing the piano at the center without losing the group’s chemistry.
