The Sisters of Mercy

On 2 October 2026, The Sisters of Mercy will perform at L'Autre Canal in Nancy (45 boulevard d’Austrasie). Formed in Leeds in the early 1980s, the band led by Andrew Eldritch moves between post-punk, gothic rock and dark new wave, driven by programmed rhythms and guitars built on repetitive motifs. From their early singles and the album First and Last and Always, through the broader turn represented by Floodland and the more direct sound of Vision Thing, the project's trajectory has consistently retained Eldritch’s deep voice as a central element and maintained a strong emphasis on atmosphere. Structured around a core of rotating musicians, the band expresses itself primarily on stage, where it brings together emblematic tracks and recent, previously unreleased material. At L'Autre Canal, The Sisters of Mercy will offer a set that navigates their various periods, blending rock, electronic and alternative pop influences, true to the aesthetic that shaped their identity.
