Info
Rooted in the 90s wave of francophone punk rock in Quebec, Vulgaires Machins formed in Granby around singer-guitarist Guillaume Beauregard and guitarist-singer Marie-Ève Roy, joined over time by a rotating rhythm section. The band shapes a melodic punk sound with lyrics in French where social critique, political concerns and more intimate observations cross paths, carried by a direct, alternative-leaning edge. They first made their name on small independent stages across Quebec before settling into the francophone punk network of venues and festivals. Their discography marks clear steps: Compter les corps (2006) with its openly engaged stance; Requiem pour les sourds (2010), pushing the contrast between tuneful hooks and darker themes; and Disruption (2022), recorded after a more diffuse stretch of activity. Through the years, Vulgaires Machins have toured across Canada and francophone Europe, often sharing the bill with fellow punk outfits and sometimes presenting stripped-back versions of their songs, without losing the collective, punk-first approach that defines them. On March 13, 2026, Vulgaires Machins take the stage at Théâtre Beanfield in Montréal.
