Info
Heavenly bring their Oxford-born indie pop to The Great Hall, 1087 Queen Street West, Toronto, Canada, on April 21, 2026. Formed at the end of the 80s in the wake of Talulah Gosh, the band centers on singer and songwriter Amelia Fletcher with Peter Momtchiloff, Cathy Rogers and Rob Pursey. Their sound leans on clean, chiming guitars, close-knit vocal harmonies and lyrics that shift between tangled relationships, dry snapshots of everyday life and a clear feminist thread. Early releases on Sarah Records — Heavenly vs. Satan (1991) and Le Jardin de Heavenly (1992) — set the tone, followed by The Decline and Fall of Heavenly (1994) and Operation Heavenly (1996), where light melodies rub against darker shades.
After the death of drummer Matthew Fletcher in 1996, the group stepped back, while its members carried on in other projects. On stage today, Heavenly draw from that catalogue with a straightforward, melodic set that reconnects their crisp songwriting and lo-fi-flirting pop with an audience that knows where these songs come from and why they still hit.
