MIMAA

Laury Perez, known as MIMAA, places performance at the heart of her project. As a teenager she drew inspiration from musicals, orchestras and dancers, with Liza Minnelli and Barbra Streisand as touchstones. At 17 she left Occitania for Paris and pursued a variety of experiences: dancer on television sets, understudy in The Wizard of Oz, voice on film soundtracks. The turning point came six years ago with beatmaker El Speaker, her first duo partner. Of Spanish and Sicilian descent, she has refined a sound where trap and pop intersect with Andalusian influences and the gypsy culture of southern France. Her track “Gypsy” drew attention and established a clear direction: blending singing and rap, structured melodies and supple percussion for a highly theatrical mode of songwriting. On 27 March 2026 at 4bis in Rennes, MIMAA will be on stage with this mix of rhythms and accents that shaped her identity — a live show conceived for movement, alternating punchy numbers with more narrative sequences, while never relinquishing the rigor demanded by the stage.
