Theatre of Hate

On April 15, 2026, Theatre of Hate will take over Le Supersonic in Paris with their England‑born post‑punk tinged with gothic influences. For fans of Killing Joke, Gang of Four and Public Image Ltd., the group formed in 1980 carved out a distinctive sound in the underground—between razor‑edged guitars and brooding lines—before splitting up in 1982 after a string of singles and one album.

Reunited since 2014, Theatre of Hate has released three records. The most recent, Utsukushi‑sa (2021), whose title means “A thing of beauty,” continues a search for balance between melodic clarity and a clear‑eyed appraisal of society, without sacrificing the abrasive edge of their early work.

In 2025–2026 the band is touring with 80‑25: Westworld performed in its entirety, accompanied by the singles from that period. This stop at Le Supersonic is part of that format and brings renewed attention to a repertoire that helped shape the band’s identity.
