Le Grand Palais Paris invites artists Eva Jospin and Claire Tabouret to occupy two galleries connected by a single entrance. On one side, Grottesco, a route of forests, grottoes and imaginary architectures; on the other, With a Single Breath, which offers a behind-the-scenes look at a monumental project: the future contemporary stained-glass windows for Notre-Dame de Paris. Eva Jospin brings together more than a dozen works, some created especially for the exhibition and others revisiting emblematic motifs from her practice. The exhibition title, Grottesco, is inspired by the legend of a young Roman who stumbled by chance into a cavity where he discovered forgotten frescoes of the Domus Aurea. From this buried palace, resembling a cave, the grotesque is born — the thread Eva Jospin follows: a style in which vegetal, architectural and fantastic elements intertwine. The route invites visitors to traverse a separate world: promontory, cenotaph, grotto, ruins and forest succeed one another, continually altering perception and revealing new motifs. Among the new works, a series of embroidered bas-reliefs draws the eye. A fusion of textile and sculpture, these pieces mark a new stage in Eva Jospin’s artistic exploration.

Claire Tabouret presents, in an exhibition entitled With a Single Breath, the full-scale models, sketches and preparatory works for the six stained-glass windows she has created for Notre-Dame de Paris. Winner in December 2024 of the competition organized by the Ministry of Culture, in association with the Atelier Simon-Marq, she reveals the backstage of this project. Each model reproduces at full scale a bay of the cathedral’s south aisle. Executed as monotypes, a printmaking technique the artist uses frequently, they are enhanced with stencils for the rose windows and decorative motifs. These designs thus respect the building’s neutral light and create a smooth transition with Viollet‑le‑Duc’s stained glass while proposing balanced colors. Inspired by the theme of Pentecost, a symbol of unity and harmony, Claire Tabouret invites visitors into the intimacy of her creative process and to discover the behind-the-scenes of this creation.
