Luella

Led by musician Liv Whitfield and based in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, Luella crafts a dreamy pop infused with soul, driven by prominent basslines, a clear vocal delivery and lyrics that focus on the personal. The project first asserted itself with the album “Luna”, released in 2022, recorded in collaboration with her father, producer Zane Whitfield, at North of Princess Studio — a space associated with artists such as The Glorious Sons, Kathleen Edwards and The Blue Stones. That debut establishes a melodic dream‑pop world where pared‑back arrangements make room for the voices and intimate narratives. Following that, Luella released “Summer Bummer”, a second album collecting songs inspired by the end of adolescence, fleeting summers, first romantic attachments and their breakups. The songwriting is direct and occasionally nostalgic, exemplified by the track “Peach Ginger Tea”, which frames a past relationship through the image of a summer drink. On stage, Luella brings this repertoire to the Canadian indie circuit, sharing bills with artists like fanclubwallet and Dizzy, and gradually carving out a place in Kingston’s new pop generation.
