Info
Thiefs + Papatef
Thiefs is a group formed in 2010 in New York, born from the meeting between New York-based bassist Keith Witty and Parisian saxophonist Christophe Panzani. Their shared passions for jazz and hip-hop and their desire to explore new paths, new crossovers, quickly materialize in a debut album that was lauded by critics in France and the United States, notably by The New York Times (March 2013), which described the group as 'an unexpected collision between the jazz trio Fly, the hip-hop of Antipop Consortium and the R&B sensibility of Frank Ocean'.
After securing fellowships in the United States (Doris Duke, Mid Atlantic Art Foundation...) and taking their music to venues and festivals across the country, they released a second album on the French label Jazz & People in 2018: Graft (La Greffe), featuring guest MCs Gaël Faye and Mike Ladd.
Papatef, alias Cyril Atef, returns to La Petite Halle de la Villette on November 14, 2026. A one-man band, he blends percussion, drum machines, turntables and singing.
Known to the public for his numerous musical ventures with Vincent Segal (Bumcello), his CongopunQ project, and his collaborations with Matthieu Chedid and Gotan Project, Papatef offers an evening in which you will be dancing without letting up.
