Info
Career Suicide was formed in Toronto in 2001 and plays hardcore punk with clear roots in early American hardcore from the 1980s. The band's music is fast, raw, and direct and traces back to the first wave of punk and North American garage rock. At the center are guitarist Jonah Falco and vocalist Martin Farkas. Falco is also known as the drummer for Fucked Up, which tightly links Career Suicide to Toronto's hardcore and punk scene. Over the years the band has had a wide range of members, but has maintained the blunt and unpolished approach that has marked them since the beginning.
After the first demos and the self-titled debut followed a number of EPs and releases. The album Attempted Suicide was released in 2006, while Machine Response followed in 2017. The band has also toured in North America, Europe, and Japan. Career Suicide belongs to the part of hardcore punk where tempo, short songs, and a sharp DIY aesthetic are valued higher than polished production. The music looks back to the early years of the hardcore genre without serving as pure retro. After more than two decades, the band remains a part of the international punk underground.
