Info
On October 7, 2027, André Rieu brings his touring show to Utilita Arena Newcastle with the formula that’s made him a fixture of crowd-friendly classical music. Violin in hand and conducting from the front, he leads the Johann Strauss Orchestra, the ensemble he founded back in 1987 to put the Viennese waltz back at the centre of the party. Expect a set built around Strauss-style swoops and melodies, but also a broader mix that shifts easily from operetta excerpts to film themes, popular songs and well-known classical pieces, always arranged to stay direct and singable. Rieu’s concerts are less about stiff etiquette than shared moments: guest vocalists and choirs regularly join the orchestra, and the whole thing is designed to keep the room involved, from the first downbeat to the final encore.
