Info
On March 24, 2027, Shakatak bring their sleek jazz-funk to Band on the Wall in Manchester. Born in London in 1980 around the partnership of keyboardist and composer Bill Sharpe and drummer Roger Odell, the band has always played in that sweet spot where jazz harmony meets funk pulse, with soul-leaning vocals and pop-ready hooks.
Expect a set built on tight grooves, melodic keys up front, and that polished, city-night sound that made them stand out early on. Breakout cuts like “Steppin’” first turned them into a club favourite, before “Night Birds” and “Down on the Street” confirmed their knack for moving between dance floors, jazz rooms and radio without losing the plot.
Still driven by the core chemistry of Sharpe and Odell, Shakatak’s live show is about musicianship that stays light on its feet: clean rhythms, warm bass lines, guitar finesse, and voices that add colour rather than crowd the groove. A chance to catch a British institution still very much in motion.
