Info
No need to look far to grasp the tone of Cactus. By giving this name to his new show, Elie Semoun makes his intent clear: it’s going to sting.
For thirty years, the comedian has established himself as one of the most incisive and offbeat voices on the French comedy scene. His style, which blends finesse and audacity, has inspired many generations of artists.
For his eighth show, presented at the Casino Partouche Val André, Elie Semoun makes a slight pivot: stand-up now occupies a more prominent place, a novelty for him. But don’t be fooled, Cactus remains faithful to his taste for characters. Among the gallery of his new monsters, you’ll encounter Jean Abdul, who will open the show, a son who takes his father to visit a nursing home, Xavier, a mobility-impaired man, who introduces his wife to his mother, a father confronted with his son’s transition, a racist karate instructor, or a biting take on sexual harassment and religion.
With Cactus, Elie Semoun offers a vision of our society, between violence and inspiration, where the themes of intolerance, taboo and injustice are tackled bluntly, with the incisive edge that defines him.
