Info
Mario Canonge, piano, and Michel Zenino, bass. After nearly two decades of musical complicity, Mario Canonge and Michel Zenino are reviving their residency at Le Baiser Salé, like a ritual awaited every Wednesday by a loyal and passionate audience. This piano-bass duo has forged a demanding and intense format, without artifice or compromise, where every note, every silence matters. The absence of drums, far from being a constraint, becomes a playground where concentration, mutual listening and sensitivity are at the heart of the music. On stage, Canonge, a figure of Caribbean jazz, and Zenino, a bassist with a precise phrasing, creatively revisit the great jazz standards, from Thelonious Monk to Ornette Coleman, all while infusing them with their Creole, Latin roots and their love of cross-cultural hybridity. This residency, an improvisation laboratory, blends tradition and modernity in a form of alchemy nourished by years of musical dialogue.
