La Ménagerie welcomes Bilbao Kung-Fu and Montañita to La Pente on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
Bilbao Kung-Fu [psychedelic garage rock]:
After two foundational EPs shaping the band's identity, L'Arc-en-Ciel (2021) with pop and psychedelic inflections and Déséquilibre (2023) more furious, notably featuring the anthem Oh!, a lineup change occurred with the departure of one of the band's guitarists. The band thus becomes a trio by necessity, and after a few months of introspection decides to validate this arrangement. The group gains cohesion and each member takes a little more space. BKF is a distinctive psychedelic garage rock fused with French-language vocals, a rarity among bands in the genre. In their live performances, one can hear references to Oh Sees, Téléphone, Nirvana and Polnareff, all delivered with a punk and psychedelic energy. In concert, Bilbao Kung-Fu lets the energy overwhelm the music to deliver performances that have taken them as far as the FIMU in Belfort, Musicalarue, Garorock, and opening for MNNQS, Déportivo, or Stuck in the Sound. Montañita [dream pop]:
Air that drifts like a waking dream, with vintage-sounding effects enveloping a melody in weightlessness. Guitars held in a breath carry the melancholy, all sustained by three voices that merge into one, broadcasting their longing as an ideal. That is how we might summarize Montañita's pop, which should resonate with fans of Slowdive, Beach House, or Sparklehorse.
