Born in Wales and based in Brighton, Gwenifer Raymond has developed her own language around the fingerpicking guitar. Drawing on Mississippi blues and John Fahey's tradition, she links these influences with her roots in rural Wales, folk horror, and the avant-garde, shaping a style she herself calls Welsh Primitive.
On her third album, Last Night I Heard the Dog Star Bark, Raymond carries this universe into a territory where the ancestral and the futuristic meet, between occult imaginings and cosmic resonances.
