On October 4, 2026, Cécile McLorin Salvant will lend her voice to the Opéra National de Bordeaux for a concert that tells as much as it sings. Born in Miami to a Franco-Haitian family and educated at the Conservatoire Darius-Milhaud in Aix-en-Provence, she has carved a path between jazz and classical music before establishing herself on the international stage.
On stage, she enjoys playing with eras and languages: revisited standards, original compositions, forgotten songs brought back into the spotlight, in English as well as in French, sometimes tinged with Creole. Her vocal jazz draws on both blues and song, with a marked fondness for the lyrics, the characters, and the stories that unfold like a film. Albums such as WomanChild, For One to Love, Ghost Song, and Mélusine sketch this playing field, where intimacy, theatre, and a sense of storytelling are carried by a precise and vivid interpretation.
