Info
On November 3, 2026, Richard Bona brings his Trio to Blue Note London for a set where the bass is never just a background instrument. Born in Cameroon and shaped by years between Europe and New York, Bona has built a sound that moves freely between contemporary jazz and African traditions, with touches of fusion, blues, and song-like melodies.
In trio format, his playing really opens up: a melodic, vocal way of phrasing on the bass, rhythms that travel from Central Africa to Brazil and back, and compositions designed for conversation rather than showcase. Expect groove and nuance in the same breath, with Bona’s singing and storytelling instincts sitting naturally alongside tight interplay and plenty of space for improvisation. A night for anyone who likes jazz that’s rooted, modern, and always in motion.
