On September 23, 2026, Blue Note London hosts the Grand Opening with Robert Glasper, a pianist and producer who’s been reshaping the edges of contemporary jazz for two decades. Coming out of Houston and forged on the New York scene, he moves easily between post-bop language and the pulse of hip-hop, R&B and soul, with a way of playing that keeps the groove tight while leaving plenty of room for improvisation.
Live, Glasper’s universe is less about genre borders than about how songs can breathe and mutate onstage. From the early trio spirit of Mood, Canvas or In My Element to the more electric, vocal-minded energy of the Robert Glasper Experiment era on Black Radio and ArtScience, he’s built a sound where jazz harmony meets beats and hooks without losing spontaneity. Expect a set that can swing, loop, break, and snap back into melody.
