Info
On February 24, 2027, Rhiannon Giddens lands at Théâtre Beanfield in Montréal for a concert that pulls American roots music back into the present. Singer, fiddler and banjo player, she moves freely between folk, old-time, bluegrass, country, blues and gospel, with a sharp sense of where these songs come from and how they’ve traveled.
Known for bringing overlooked African-American string-band traditions into the spotlight with the Carolina Chocolate Drops, she’s also built a solo path that keeps widening: from the reworkings and deep cuts of Tomorrow Is My Turn to the political charge of Freedom Highway, then a more transatlantic, stripped-down conversation with Francesco Turrisi on There Is No Other and They’re Calling Me Home. More recently, You’re the One leans into personal songwriting without dropping the historical thread. Expect a set where the voice carries stories as much as melodies, and where the banjo and fiddle feel like instruments of memory as well as groove.
