Karate Boogaloo lands in Paris on February 11, 2027 at Pop-up du Label with their cocktail of 'cinematic soul' instrumentals straight from Naarm/Melbourne. The quartet (Henry Jenkins, Hudson Whitlock, Callum Riley and Darvid Thor) have been playing together since they were teenagers, and you can hear it: a rhythm section that moves forward without forcing it, organ and guitar lines that grab you, and that taste for clever little arrangements that recall the great old-school soul-funk outfits, in the manner of Booker T. & The MG's or The Meters.
After more than ten years of keeping the local underground scene spinning, they have honed a DIY signature all of their own, between tight grooves, understated humor and soundtrack-like atmospheres. The live show draws on an already-dense catalog, from KB's Mixtapes to their albums Carn The Boogers, Hold Your Horses and the arrival of Access All Areas, with that riff-writing sensibility that sticks to you and tracks designed to move you without a word spoken into the mic.
