On March 12, 2027, Theory of a Deadman lands at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa with The Northern Chaos Tour. Born in British Columbia in the late 1990s, the band led by Tyler Connolly built its reputation on a hard-hitting rock sound, bridging post-grunge and hard rock, driven by choruses that stick in the mind. Over the course of their records, the formula broadened: touches of alternative and pop rock, acoustic breaths, sometimes a hint of country, all without losing the taste for punchy guitars. On stage, you can expect a set drawn from their various periods, from the Gasoline and Scars & Souvenirs eras to more modern turns, up to a return to a heavier sound they have recently begun pursuing.
As the opener, Mammoth, Wolfgang Van Halen's project, comes to lay down its riffs and sense of melody. A multi-instrumentalist, he blends alternative rock and heavy energy with writing that is very direct and geared toward live performance. Between tightly crafted tracks and a rising, stage-ready intensity, the opening promises a dense, no-nonsense evening.
