On 23 October 2026, at Berlin's Gretchen, two very different yet bass-driven signatures come together for a 15th-anniversary celebration: What So Not and DJ Spinn.
What So Not is the project of Chris Emerson (Emoh Instead). After the early duo years with Flume, from 2015 onward it has been his solo focus on trap, bass music, electronica, and hip-hop. Collaborations with Skrillex, RL Grime, Noisia, RÜFÜS DU SOL, and Killer Mike have further sharpened this sound: melodic, gently ethereal synth textures paired with hard drops and breaks that constantly oscillate between atmosphere and intensity. In 2026 Emerson deliberately revisits the trap- and bass-sounds of the early 2010s with "I SAW A TRAP DJ AND IT CHANGED MY BIO CHEMISTRY."
DJ Spinn hails from Chicago and is known for Juke and Footwork. As a co-founder of Teklife (alongside DJ Rashad), he has been building since the late 1990s on fast, chopped rhythms, samples, and deep basslines, drawn directly from the city's dance culture. His latest EP, "Break Yo Back" (2025), bundles older material with new tracks and shows how physically immersive this music remains.
The night is complemented by Grzly Adams, Deby Cage, and Yunis, with Box 2 featuring Allynx and Sean Steinfeger.
