Takaaki Itoh is a Japanese DJ, music producer, and promoter widely regarded as a pioneer of Japan's underground techno scene. Sonically, Itoh is celebrated for a dark, hypnotic, and atmospheric approach to sound design, a texture he often describes as wet. He layers intricate deep drones with relentless rhythmic patterns, a process he likens to the careful sculpting of a work of art. To preserve complete creative independence and to provide a platform for his sonic vision, he later launched his own record label, WOLS, which stands as a benchmark for purist, avant-garde techno.
