On 7 March 2027, Shantel will grace Patronaat in Haarlem with his dance-floor logic that works just as well in a concert hall. The Mannheim-based DJ and producer (Stefan Hantel) has been crafting his own blend of electronic music and music from East and Southeast Europe since the 1990s, fueled by travel and an open-minded approach to diasporas and traditions. Do not expect nostalgic folklore, but tight beats that clash and fuse with Balkan brass, klezmer lines and Roma influences, plus Greek, Romanian, Turkish and Slavic hues. Through his Bucovina Club aesthetic and releases such as Disko Partizani, Planet Paprika and the later Mētrópolis, he continues to sharpen that hybrid sound: energetic, rhythmic and continually in motion. Live, that gains extra tension with the Bucovina Club Orkestar energy in the back of his mind, as if the club and the stage become a single set.
