Big Country hit Edinburgh on 20 December 2026 at The Liquid Room to mark the 40th anniversary of The Seer, the band’s third studio album and a key chapter in their Scottish post‑punk/new wave story. Released in 1986, the record locks in that unmistakable Big Country DNA: taut, widescreen rock where guitars bend and ring with bagpipe-like phrasing, built for big choruses and forward drive. Expect the set to lean hard into The Seer, with songs like Look Away, The Teacher and the sweeping title track getting the live treatment alongside the staples that shaped their legend, including In A Big Country and Fields Of Fire. Front and center is co-founder Bruce Watson, the longest-serving member, keeping the band’s signature tension between rock energy and Scottish grounding alive on stage.
Special guest Evan Peters Presents The Alarm joins the bill, bringing a shared history into the night: this run nods to a pact between Bruce Watson and Mike Peters after Mike’s cancer diagnosis, turning the support, resilience and the enduring hits tied to both names into one live moment.
