Info

Totó la Momposina has left a singular imprint on the music of Colombia's Caribbean coast, spanning cumbia, bullerengue, porro, and mapalé, with her distinctive way of letting voice, drums, and dance speak to one another. On November 8, 2026, at the Point Fort in Aubervilliers, the World Music Cities Festival will dedicate to her an homage evening conceived as a family celebration, in the broad sense.

Around her legacy, her close ones, her fellow musicians, her collaborators, and heirs of this tradition gather to re‑perform this living repertoire, that of popular festivities and collective rhythms. Longtime partners Jorge Aguilar y sus Embelecos and the singer Tato Marenco are part of the program, joined by The Almighty Groove and Senegalese guitarist Tapha Gaye, to bring together Afro‑Colombian energies and pulsations from elsewhere. Also a moment of transmission, with Eurídice, Totó's daughter, and her grandchildren, to extend the phrase that sums it all up: the star is the music.

Rumbabierta rounds out the evening with a Cuban rumba carried by drums, singing, and dance, enhanced by El Elegante, blending original compositions with tradition.
