Dent May brings his off-kilter pop songwriting to YES in Manchester on April 16, 2027. Raised in Jackson, Mississippi, he started out singing in church and school musicals before falling into pop-punk and emo bands, then later reshaping his sound with a DIY streak and a sharp sense of melody. Early on, he played shows armed with just a ukulele and the loose, communal energy of the Cats Purring Collective he helped build in Oxford, Mississippi.
From the bright, acoustic charm of The Good Feeling Music of Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele to the more psychedelic, band-forward turns of Do Things and Warm Blanket, his music keeps widening the frame while staying hooked on pop immediacy. Now based in Los Angeles, he’s leaned further into synthy, nocturnal textures across later records, balancing retro-tinged arrangements with a songwriter’s touch. Expect a set that moves easily between indie pop warmth and stranger, sideways grooves.
