On November 4, 2026, in London at ICA Bookstore, Nosaj Thing teams up with Tokyo audio-visual pioneer Daito Manabe for the UK premiere of Material Works, a live AV project that’s been evolving in public for over a decade.
Known for a cinematic blend of ambient, instrumental hip-hop and experimental electronics, the LA producer (Jason Chung) brings the slow-burn grooves and finely cut textures that have shaped his own records and fed collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Kid Cudi and Chance the Rapper, as well as remixes that jump from Philip Glass to Charlotte Gainsbourg and Flying Lotus.
The Nosaj Thing x Manabe dialogue started with the 2012 Eclipse/Blue video featuring Kazu Makino (Blonde Redhead), then expanded into the boundary-pushing No Reality tour unveiled at Coachella 2016, and more recent improvised performances. With Material Works, they push the show closer to an installation, designed as a tight conversation between sound, light and image, and developed alongside designer David Rudnick. Their new single LXR signals the next chapter of that partnership, built for the stage as much as for headphones.
