MASS OF THE FERMENTING DREGS land at Danforth Music Hall in Toronto on May 12, 2027, bringing their Kobe-born take on Japanese indie rock to the stage. Since forming in 2002, the band has carved out a sound that sits right between post-hardcore snap, shoegaze haze, and the kind of math-rock turns that keep you on your toes.
Centered around bassist and vocalist Natsuko Miyamoto, their songs thrive on sharp, tense guitars, sudden rhythmic breaks, and vocal melodies that cut through the noise without smoothing out the edges. Expect a set that moves fast between urgency and clarity, with that dense, tight energy that made records like World Is Yours and their later run of releases hit so hard live. After a break in the early 2010s and a reboot in 2015, they’ve kept pushing the same balance of saturated textures and direct songwriting, built for sweaty, focused rooms.
