On May 14, 2027, MELL VF will perform at PLT - Theater Heerlen (Heerlen). The Dutch trio led by singer and guitarist Mell Jonk crafts its own mix of rhythm & blues, soul, and pop, with a clear love for retro grooves. Together with Ton Dijkman (drums and guitar) and Martin Scheppink (Hammond organ, piano and bass), the band builds songs from warm keyboards, tight rhythms, and a voice that easily shifts between raw and melodic.
Under the name Mell & Vintage Future, the story began in 2016 with singles quickly picked up by national radio. The 2019 debut album established their sound: organic, danceable and pop-oriented without becoming glossy. During the Covid period, they dove into covers with Roots & Romance (2021), with the standout moment being their version of 'Perfect Day' by Lou Reed, later used in the film The In Between. Since 2022, MELL VF has again focused on original material, with singles such as Love Train, Worth It, Shine Your Light, and Frozen in Time, and with a live energy that clearly pays homage to classics like Booker T. & The MG's and Sly & The Family Stone.
