A little over ten years ago, Vaudou Game made a notable entry into the global music scene with the hit “Pas contente.” Always operating under the authority of a funk shaped by esotericism and the mystique of the Vaudou spectrum, Vaudou Game brings together on its latest album the music of West Africa from the 1970s and Latin America’s cumbia. Guitars, percussion, brass and futurist-vintage keyboards drive the hips or conjure the most intriguing atmosphere possible, and it is behind his unshakeable mask that the band’s leader, Peter Solo, delivers his messages.
Whether political, or concerning human and ecological considerations, it is always under a thick layer of sarcasm and humor that he takes care to conceal them, to better put them at the service of a joyful and dancing trance, with the subliminal motto of repaying Africa, its people, and the Earth.
