The American singer and songwriter from the Atlanta area (born Jaten Dimsdale) first became known for his intense cover versions, before gradually building his own repertoire: modern soul-pop ballads with R&B productions, a little gospel in the background, and occasional detours toward rock or country.
On “The Ugly Tour” these contrasts are at the center: big, warm vocals, a lot of feeling, but without pathos overload, plus a band setup that pushes groove and dynamics forward.
