İç İçe means “intertwined” or “interwoven” in Turkish. It is Germany’s first festival dedicated to new Anatolian music from diverse perspectives.
Anatolia has long been a meeting place of many cultures and musical traditions. Since at least the 1960s, these influences have continued to evolve in Germany, shaping everyday life and nightlife alike, from underground scenes to pop culture. İç İçe focuses on how artists draw from the cultural pieces of their identities and reinterpret them in personal ways. By doing so, they find their own voices and create space for themselves within the societies they live in. This exchange is at the heart of the festival’s multilingual and many-voiced program.
