From Detroit to Montreal II: Delano Smith

Info

Two years after our first edition with Marcellus Pittman, Une Minute De Plus presents on September 12th one of the influential figures in house music, Detroit artist Delano Smith, for the second edition of From Detroit to Montréal at the Société des arts et des technologies (SAT).

A pioneer of Detroit's DJ scene since the late '70s, Delano Smith has crafted a style: progressive, tech-soul and deep. He is recognised as one of the founding pillars of Detroit's house culture, having directly inspired names like Derrick May, Jeff Mills and Juan Atkins.

From Detroit to Montréal II is a two-part cultural event bringing together heritage, conversation and transmission around the roots of Detroit's house and techno, through the story of one of its artists.

4pm-6h30:
· Screening of God Said Give 'Em Drum Machines, the documentary tracing the African-American roots of Detroit's techno and house scene.
· Panel talk with Delano Smith, moderated by Cornelius Harris and Pema Tournadre, extending the conversation around Detroit's culture, transmission, the pre-techno era, and its influence on today's electronic music scenes.

10pm-6am:
· Delano Smith (5h extended set)
· Local line-up TBA
