Info

Cora Novoa is a music producer, DJ and creative director who has defined Spanish electronic music at the intersection of art, technology and sonic research. Beginning in classical music as a flutist playing the transverse flute, she discovered the world of electronic production through computing, embarking on a self-taught path that would lead her to become one of the most influential and coherent voices on the international electronic scene. After living in Madrid and Berlin, she settled in Barcelona, where she founded Seeking The Velvet (2014), her transmedia independent label that fuses electronic music and experimental pop with art, music and technology. Her work has been released on labels such as Turbo Recordings (Tiga's label) and Citizen Records (founded by Vitalic). Her music has received support from artists such as Luke Slater, Marcel Dettmann, Dave Clarke, DVS1, Slam, Louisahhh, Djedjotronic, Ancient Methods, Schwefelgelb, Risa Taniguchi and others. In 2017 she was awarded Best DJ of the Year at the Vicious Music Awards, the first recognition in this category awarded to a woman. Her collaborative work reached international dimension in 2023 when, thanks to her production on the remix of Flotante within Zahara's album Reputa, the two were nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards in the Best Alternative Album category, in the first Latin Grammy ceremony held in Spain. Most recently, she received the 2025 Fonograma Award from the Catalan Association of Phonographic Producers for her contribution to the dissemination of recorded music for Catalan culture. Parallel to her artistic activity, Cora Novoa is an Ableton Official Certified Trainer and a curator of musical content, delivering masterclasses on production, the music industry and creativity. She has presented her live audiovisuals on stages such as Sónar Barcelona, the Tate Modern in London, Fabric London and Mutek Montreal. Additionally, she sits on selection and support committees for emerging artists, such as serving on the jury of the Will Smith Emerging Artist Fund (2025). Her conceptual albums — Fight Love Faith (2015), The Hive and the Mental Diary trilogy (with ACT III: This is not about you and me. This is about us—the most recent release in 2024) — reflect her ongoing evolution from melodic timbres toward explorations with modular synthesizers, analog drum machines and experimental narratives. In 2026 she will perform at Moog Barcelona.
